Donald W. Brown, 41, of Summit Avenue, appeared for a bench-warrant hearing in Niles Municipal Court on Thursday after officials went to his house Wednesday night and found what appeared to be a methamphetamine-making operation.

Officials with the Trumbull County Adult Probation Department and Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force went there to investigate indications that Brown had been buying large quantities of Pseudoephedrine, a nasal decongestant, said Capt. Jeff Orr, TAG commander.

Inside the house, officials found a duffel bag containing a 2-liter pop bottle that appeared to contain an active methamphetamine-cooking operation, Orr said. The substance was sent to a state crime lab for analysis.

Niles police, the Niles Fire Department and crime-lab team from the sheriff’s office and Warren Police Department assisted.

Brown was convicted last December in Niles Municipal Court in connection with a meth-lab bust at the Cottage Inn motel on Youngstown Road in Niles that involved nine suspects.
