“Sleeping Beauty” premiered at the Boardman library on June 24. Columbus Children’s Theatre gave an interesting spin to the classic, providing entertainment for all in attendance.
Librarian John Yingling welcomed the cast from Columbus Children’s Theatre to the stage, expressing his excitement for the show.
“It’s great,” Yingling said. “It’s just wonderful.”
Although the name of the production was “Sleeping Beauty,” Columbus Children’s Theatre gave a different perspective of the play.
“They’re doing a really funny, offbeat version of ‘Sleeping Beauty,’” Yingling said.
Yingling commented on the large turnout of the two shows during the day – more than 162 people just for the first show. Yingling said he expected more for the second showing.
In addition to the high volume of people, Columbus Children’s Theatre was successful in entertaining everyone, not just the children.
“We had the doors closed and we could hear the kids laughing,” Yingling said. “Even the adults had a good time.”
Yingling said Columbus Children’s Theatre really did a great job and everyone at the library enjoyed having them as part of their Summer Discovery Program.
