New editor named for The Cincinnati Enquirer

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Enquirer has named a journalism center director and Pulitzer Prize-winning editor to lead the Ohio newspaper.

Peter Bhatia directs the Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism at Arizona State’s Cronkite School of Journalism. He will be editor and vice president of audience engagement at Enquirer Media starting Aug. 17.

Enquirer Media parent company Gannett Co. Inc. announced the appointment today.

The 62-year-old Bhatia helped lead newsrooms that won nine Pulitzers, including six at The Oregonian in Portland.

He also has been an editor at The Fresno Bee, The Sacramento Bee, Dallas Times Herald and the San Francisco Examiner.
