Akron Children’s Hospital, starting this Saturday, will be providing weekend urgent care from noon to 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at its Warren specialty office, The Market Place, 5000 E. Market St.
“We want to ensure that families have access to urgent care for children where and when they need it,” said Dr. Gregg DiGiulio, Akron Children’s medical director of urgent care.
Unlike emergency rooms, urgent care is designed to address non-life-threatening illnesses and medical needs such as sore throat, ear pain, fever, injuries or sprains. Emergency rooms can provide care for any urgent care issue, as well as life-threatening circumstances such as a major trauma or accident, serious bleeding and broken limbs.
Akron Children’s offers a pediatric practice at this location along with specialty clinics for cardiology, endocrinology, lab, neurology, orthopedic, radiology and urology.
