CINCINNATI (AP) — A man has been sentenced to six months in jail for vehicular homicide for the death of a retired police officer who was escorting a funeral procession in Cincinnati when a car collided with his motorcycle.
Thirty-one-year-old Anton Palmer's driver's license was also suspended for five years.
Hamilton County court records show that Judge Melissa Powers recently ordered that Palmer be given credit for the 65 days he served after he pleaded no contest to three charges stemming from the March 28 crash. Authorities said then that Palmer broke into the funeral procession after failing to yield at an intersection, and his car was struck by George Brooks' motorcycle.
The 63-year-old Brooks died a day later from his injuries. He had retired from the Forest Park Police Department after 25 years.
