Located in the new Cravings Cafe and Creamery in downtown Sharon is a new Penn State apparel shop called The Nittany Connection.
The contemporary facility offers a variety of Penn State clothing and merchandise, including Under Armour and Nike athletic and leisure wear, children’s clothing and items, Penn State giftware and decor pieces.
The Nittany Connection, officially opened June 1.
“It’s wonderful to have a store in Sharon specifically selling Penn State items,” said Dan and Antoinette Wallace. “The fact that it is located inside of the new Cravings Cafe, which sells Penn State Creamery ice cream and other local goodies, is definitely a plus. I was really impressed with the whole setup inside of Cravings. You can sit and have lunch while working on your computer, and then purchase some ice cream for dessert before shopping for that special gift at The Nittany Connection.”
This Nittany Connection store is managed by Penn State Shenango student interns who are pursuing business degrees at the local campus.
The experience gives them excellent real-world experience in a business setting which includes marketing the store, managing employees and store operations, inventory control and merchandising and all other retail activities.
“This internship is an excellent opportunity because it offers hands-on experience,” intern Mark McCullough said. “I am better able to connect real business experience to concepts learned in the classroom. This knowledge will be invaluable in my future employment.”
The Nittany Connection is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Saturday hours are noon to 5 p.m. For information, visit www.facebook.com/nittanyconnection.
