BROOKFIELD

Jorge I. Reyes Avila, 30, of Perkinswood Boulevard Southeast in Warren, will be arraigned Tuesday in Eastern District Court on an aggravated-robbery charge after he was arrested Friday in Thursday’s robbery of Dollar General.

Brookfield Police Chief Dan Faustino credited Brookfield and Warren police and “observant people in the area of the robbery” for identifying Reyes Avila as the suspect, enabling Brookfield police to arrest him within 24 hours of the crime.

Police allege Reyes Avila wore a black hooded sweatshirt and had a green cloth covering his face as he brandished a large knife at the store manager and demanded money at the Dollar General, 7250 Warren-Sharon Road, at 2:05 p.m., then fled with the money in a gray vehicle, Brookfield police said. No one was injured.

Reyes Avila came to the Brookfield Police Department about 10 a.m. Friday. He later was charged with aggravated robbery and taken to the Trumbull County jail, where he remains.
