ALLIANCES

Ohio Cultural Alliance will have a dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 3 at Holy Trinity Serbian Church Hall, 54 Laird Ave., Youngstown. Barbara Krauss will address “Going Places with the Ohio Cultural Alliance: Paris.” Krauss has a long history as a WYSU host of classical music at Youngstown State University and of conducting tours around the world, including Paris. The Serbian Ladies Guild will prepare the meal. Classical guitarists Steve Papas and Tony Valenzisi of String Theory Duo will provide cultural enrichment. Memberships, which run from September 2014 to December 2015, continue at $25 per person. The cost for each meeting is $15 for each paid-up member and $20 for each nonmember. Reservations may be mailed to OCA, P.O. Box 561, Canfield, OH 44406-0561, and must be received no later than July 29. Those attending are encouraged to take men’s socks, which will be donated to Dorothy Day House.

CLASSES

Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The event will feature Be Jeweled Boutique and music by Rachell Joy. The guest speaker will be Naomi O’Kane of DuBois, Pa., on “How To Do It The Right Way.” The cost is $13.50 and includes lunch. GUILDS

Holborn Herb Growers Guild will have its annual picnic Tuesday at Masters Pavilion in Boardman Park. Meet at the home of Yvonne Ford at 5 p.m. for a tour of the Ford Garden, light appetizers and beverages. The picnic will continue at 6 p.m. in the park. Take items for a white elephant auction, table service and a side dish or dessert to share. Chicken, water and ice will be provided. Hostesses are Ford, Laura Bailey, Sue Petrollini and Joyce Rettenmier.

Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild has scheduled a meeting of Howland Happy Stitchers at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 851 Niles-Cortland Road (state Route 46) for the Draime Garden tour. Advance reservations are required. For information call 330-856-4827.

Lake Milton Historical Society members will tour Springfield Township Historical Society, 14118 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Petersburg, on Thursday. The tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. and last 11/2 hours.

Alzheimer Network Family Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St. Meetings are free and open to caregivers and family members of a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or other form of dementia. For information call 330-788-9755.
