Youngstown man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A Tod Lane man entered a guilty plea in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a homicide in spring 2014.

Wesley J. Blackshear, 43, pleaded guilty today to charges of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated robbery for the May 24, 2014, shooting death of Brenden Moorer, 34, who police said was killed during a drug deal.

Moorer was found shot to death in a car at a McGuffey Road gas station. He was shot someplace else, police said.

Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of 25 years. Judge Maureen Sweeney accepted the plea.
