ON Jan. 15, H. Cole Hassay was inaugurated as the 93rd President of the John Carroll University Student Union.

Hassay is a junior political science and economics major from Canfield. This is his third year on the John Carrol Student Union. In 2013, Hassay served as a senator for the Class of 2016, and in 2014, he served as the Vice President for Student Organizations.

His other involvement on campus includes being an active member of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, where he served as an officer. Hassay is also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, a political science honor society, and has volunteered on several political campaigns since joining John Carroll.

Hassay’s future plans include attending law school and one day running for public office. As president, Hassay plans to bring greater transparency in the student union and to reform important aspects of campus life, including dining and facilities. Hassay also hopes to refocus diversity initiatives to bring about an even more unified campus.
