Peighton E. Bishop of Braceville, who turned 18 two months before he and two other teens attempted to commit a burglary at a Starlite Drive Northwest home that turned deadly, was sentenced to three years in prison Monday.

He pleaded guilty to the indictment — involuntary manslaughter, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery — before Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Bishop, of state Route 534, was part of a Nov. 22, 2014, home invasion along with Trent Hall, 18, of Braceville Robinson Road in Braceville, and an unidentified juvenile, police said.

There was a scuffle with the 29-year-old resident of the home during the 10:30 p.m. break-in, and the resident shot and killed Hall.

The resident, Benjamin Talanca, suffered a severe cut to the head as a result of the intruders’ using a blunt object on him, police said.

The juvenile was not immediately charged in the incident, and Chris Becker, assistant county prosecutor, did not return messages seeking a comment on the status of the juvenile’s case.

Judge Kontos also sentenced Eric W. Filicky, 26, of Scott Street in Hubbard, to three years in prison after Filicky pleaded guilty earlier to 15 child-pornography charges.

Each charge, called pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, could have produced a prison sentence of eight years.

Hubbard police said Filicky downloaded videos and pictures of children under age 16 from the Internet onto his computer from October 2013 to summer 2014.

Filicky was caught by an Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agent who uses the computer to find child-pornography users, police said.
