DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) — A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder in the stabbing a central Ohio college class president while he slept in his fraternity house.

A judge in Delaware County in suburban Columbus sentenced Nicholas Eber on Monday in last year’s attack on Ohio Wesleyan University class president Anthony Peddle. The 24-year-old Eber continued to maintain his innocence in court.

Prosecutors say Eber went to the Chi Phi fraternity house about 3:30 a.m. May 3 and stabbed the 21-year-old Peddle in the chest as he slept. They say Eber blamed Peddle for his breakup with his boyfriend.

Peddle recovered from his injuries and spoke in court Monday.

The knife cut 4 inches into his chest, narrowly missing his heart.
