Facing multiple charges

AUSTINTOWN

A township man faces multiple charges after police said he kicked a police officer who arrested him after he threatened to kill his brother.

Craig Lough, 52, of New Road was arrested Friday. His brother said the incident occurred on the way home from the Austintown Police Department after Lough was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

When police found Lough at his residence, they said he screamed at officers and his brother, telling his brother, “I’m going to kill you,” and that Lough was “highly intoxicated.” He reportedly kicked an officer while being put into a cruiser and continued to kick and hit his head against parts of the cruiser, causing damage to the car.

Lough also is charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic violence and felony counts of assault on a police officer and vandalism.

Officer uses stun gun

AUSTINTOWN

Township police used a stun gun on a man who now faces a menacing charge after an incident at his Raccoon Road home Saturday.

When township police responded to the residence for a 911 hang-up call, officers said they recognized Early Forshey Jr., 37, from a previous incident in which he was confrontational with police.

According to a police report, the responding officer jumped onto the back of a truck on the driveway after seeing an unleashed dog. When the officer instructed Forshey to secure the dog, Forshey reportedly threatened the officer multiple times and disobeyed orders.

The officer used a stun gun to subdue Forshey after he became “visibly agitated” and advanced toward the officer, and then a second time when Forshey again did not comply with his orders.

On video: Man ate drugs

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said a man who was pulled over for speeding early Saturday on Poland Avenue was caught eating drugs on video.

Anthony Howell, 40, of Youngstown, was arraigned in municipal court Monday on charges of possession of drugs, possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence. He was given a $22,500 bond by Magistrate Anthony Sertick.

Reports said Howell was pulled over for speeding about 12:45 a.m. Saturday and the trooper could smell marijuana from inside the car. Howell was placed in a cruiser while he was searched and troopers could hear plastic unraveling then the sound of someone chewing. Reports said Howell was heard to say “they went down good” and he had white powder on his face.

Assistant City Prosecutor Shelli Freeze told Sertick that video from inside the cruiser showed Howell eating the drugs. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
