YOUNGSTOWN

Members of the police department’s Vice Squad arrested one person and cited another at separate homes Thursday while serving search warrants investigating drug activity.

Officers arrested Kenneth Price at a South Whitney Avenue home on the West Side about 4:50 p.m. Price, who lists the home as his address, was taken to the Mahoning County jail on a charge of possession of drugs. Reports said he ran when police arrived but he was caught in the backyard. When he was searched, police found two suboxone strips and $256 in cash.

A pregnant woman in the house also began to have contractions, and an ambulance was called to take her to the hospital, reports said.

About 6:15 p.m., at a home at 617 West Ravenwood Avenue on the South Side, police issued a citation to William Tatum, 37, of East Calla Road in Poland, charging him with possession of drugs, possession of drug-abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found him in possession of a bag of suspected marijuana, two suboxone strips, a digital scale, a spoon with heroin residue, a syringe and a loaded magazine for a .45-caliber handgun.

He was released on a summons.
