Robbery charge

BOARDMAN

A 15-year-old faces a felony robbery charge after police said he shoplifted from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, and then pushed an employee.

Township police arrested the Youngstown teen and took him to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

A store employee told police the suspect grabbed clothes off the shelves and concealed them in a backpack. The employee then confronted him, but he pushed her out of the way and threw her to the ground. Police caught up with him and two other people who were with him.

Equipment stolen

AUSTINTOWN

Equipment was stolen from Vinylume Products, 3745 Henricks Road, sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, the fence was cut on the property, and one of the buildings was entered. Taken were 30 to 40 extrusion dies and sizers valued between $300,000 and $500,000. Store employees are checking inventory to see if more items were taken.

Extrusion sizers and dies are used in plastic processing. The company’s website says it makes vinyl extrusions and windows and insulated glass.

Firebomb found

YOUNGSTOWN

A firebomb that failed to ignite was found in a home in the 3500 block of DeSoto Avenue on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home about 1:20 a.m. to assist police, and when they arrived, they found a strong odor of gasoline in the back yard. In a room inside the home, there was a broken window, a broken bottle and a scorched rag. Reports said there were four children and their mother in the home.

Man faces charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Police found a 9mm handgun and bags of pills and crack cocaine on a man they pulled over for running a stop sign at St. Louis and Hillman avenues on the South Side about 7:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Reports said DeAngelo Young, 21, of Youngstown, was nervous and told police he did not have a driver’s license as he constantly reached for his pockets. He gave police permission to search him, and in one of his pockets, they found a bag of suspected crack cocaine and two bags of pills.

A Ruger 9 mm handgun was found under the passenger seat of the car. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of crack cocaine, possession of drugs and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
