Heritage gardening event is Saturday at Fellows Riverside Gardens

YOUNGSTOWN — The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown will host a 2015 Garden Seminar, “Heritage Gardening for the 21st Century” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave.

The event marks the club’s 85th year, as well as the 10th year of its garden seminars.

Guest speakers are Peter Hatch, director of the gardens at Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson; Marta McDowell, an author who has

explored the gardens of Beatrix Potter and Emily Dickinson; and Jay Coy, a North Jackson native and expert on heirloom tomatoes.

Cost is $45 and will include a continental breakfast, buffet lunch and door prizes.
