Activists to discuss Ohio Wal-Mart shooting with US attorney

DAYTON AP) — Ohio activists plan to meet with the U.S. attorney in Dayton to urge him to investigate the use of force by police in a suburb where a white officer fatally shot a black man holding an air rifle in a Wal-Mart.

The Friday meeting involving members of Greene County Black Lives Matter is about the Aug. 5 shooting of John Crawford III at the store in Beavercreek. Group member Julius Eason says participants are pushing for a thorough civil rights investigation as well as investigation of the Beavercreek police and federal charges against two officers.

The 22-year-old Crawford was killed by police responding after a 911 caller reported a man waving what appeared to be a firearm. A grand jury concluded the shooting was justified.
