Ohio trooper resigns after report of sex in cruiser on duty

COLUMBUS (AP) — A state trooper who admitted having sex with a woman in a cruiser while on duty has resigned as the Ohio State Highway Patrol moved to fire him.

Records released today show 23-year-old Cody Nevers met the woman at a crash scene, developed a relationship and eventually agreed to have sex in a cruiser at a roadside pull-off area while he worked overnight for the Mount Gilead post. They also met at other times while he was on duty, though not for sex.

The woman reported the encounters after learning Nevers had a fiancee.

Nevers was accused of conduct unbecoming an officer. He resigned in January after two years as a trooper.

Nevers has no public phone listing. His union’s lawyer says she doesn’t have permission to speak on Nevers’ behalf.
