NEW YORK

Fashion designer Nanette Lepore showed her fall-winter 2015 collection Wednesday as part of New York Fashion Week.

The Youngstown native broke with tradition by having the show at runway @ pop14, a new venue in the Meatpacking District.

Setting a Fashion Week precedent, CNBC Television simulcast Lepore’s event, with host Courtney Reagan quizzing Lepore as her models hit the runway.

On her decision to move to a nontraditional location, Lepore told CNBC, “It was time to leave the tents. It’s like fashion was looking for a new way to reinvent itself. The show felt like it needed newness and it’s really fun to have my own environment. It’s smaller and more intimate.”

Lepore’s clothing line is sold in major retailers, including Macy’s, Saks, Bloomingdale’s and Neiman-Marcus.

The CNBC host asked Lepore about her read on the fashion consumer. “She wants something that’s really going to make her heart stop,” Lepore replied. “Bold, exciting prints, beautiful sleeves, a gorgeous silhouette. It’s a fun season to get dressed. All it takes is a little shift and a cool coat and you look amazing.”

Celebrities in attendance at Lepore’s show included Vanessa Bayer of “Saturday Night Live,” John Slattery of “Mad Men,” Steve Buscemi of “Boardwalk Empire,” musician John Forte, Kelly Rutherford and Arianna Huffington.

In a news release, Lepore talked about the inspiration for her fall collection: “For fall, I am channeling my unapologetic muse — the posh rebel — to create a vision of a nouveau girls’ club: a secret sisterhood society unified around the rallying cry: Rebelle Societe!”

The designer’s 17-year-old daughter, Violet Savage, walked as a model in the show — her second season
