Ramzi Barnes, 18, of Wick Street Southeast, is in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond after being arraigned Tuesday on charges accusing him of breaking into an occupied home on Peace Avenue Northwest on Friday and stealing items.

A 21-year-old woman reported hearing a noise like the front door being kicked in about 10 p.m. Friday and went into a 19-year-old woman’s bedroom, waking her up, and they hid in the closet.

A person walked up the stairs, into the bedroom, opened the closet door “and stood there looking at them” with a mask on his face, they told police.

One of the women called 911, and police arrived to find Barnes about to exit the front door. An officer pointed his gun at Barnes, who was wearing a mask, and took him into custody.

Barnes had a bag with him containing a game system, and he had a watch and cellphone in his pocket. One of the women said the items were hers.

Barnes was arraigned Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court, where a not-guilty plea was entered on a charge of felony burglary. If convicted, he could get eight years in prison.
