Campbell teacher accused of sexual battery appears in court
CAMPBELL — Former Campbell Memorial High School teacher Shannon Pavlansky-Wojtowicz, 30, appeared in court this morning on a sexual battery charge.
Pavlansky-Wojtowicz, who allegedly had a relationship with a student, was released on bond, said Law Director Brian Macala.
In court, Pavlansky-Wojtowicz waived her right to having a preliminary hearing within 15 days, he said. A preliminary hearing is tentatively set in May.
However, the matter could be handled by direct presentation to the Mahoning County Grand Jury, Macala said.
If convicted, Pavlansky-Wojtowicz faces a prison sentence of up to three years, and a fine of up to $10,000.
Pavlansky-Wojtowicz resigned from the school in late January after the allegation emerged. She turned herself in on a warrant for her arrest on Friday.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation that is handling the case is still conducting it's investigation.
