Alzheimer’s group at SCOPE center

WARREN

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter is offering a “Living with Alzheimer’s” program that meets once a month for five sessions at the Warren SCOPE Center, 220 W. Market St., beginning Monday.

The program, designed to address the needs of people in the early stages of memory loss and their care partners, provides participants information on what they need to know and how to plan to meet the challenges of this journey in their lives.

Before attending, participants must register by calling 800-272-3900.

The program is free to participants.

Heart Health event

HOWLAND

The Howland Health and Wellness Committee will host a Heart Health seminar at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shepherd of the Valley – Howland, 4100 North River Road, led by cardiologist Dr. David Hoffman.

Refreshments will be provided.

The seminar will address tips to keep the heart healthy.

Healthy eating

BOARDMAN

“Healthy Eating for You: Eating Mindfulness,” a presentation provided by Mercy Health Youngstown on how to learn to be more aware of what you eat and why, will be offered from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Willow Room at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St.

The event is free and open to the public.

Bariatric surgery

HERMITAGE, PA.

Sharon Regional Health System is offering a free bariatric surgery informational session at 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Hermitage Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way, Hermitage.

The sessions include information on obesity and its impact on overall health, a review of surgical weight- loss options including benefits and risks, a look at Body Mass Index, along with other information to assist participants in making an informed decision about surgical weight loss treatments.

The bariatric surgery program at Sharon Regional is under the direction of bariatric and minimally invasive surgeon Dr. Sheetal Nijhawan, M.D., and features a multidisciplinary approach to weight loss surgery.

Through a variety of bariatric surgery options, Sharon Regional offers its patients a customized surgical approach to their weight loss plan, using the techniques that best fit a patient’s individual needs.

MyPath program

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Jameson Health System has launched a new program, MyPath, to connect certified registered dietitians at Jameson Hospital with individuals to guide them through their weight- loss journey by regularly monitoring and engaging in their daily food choices and exercise patterns.

MyPath registered dietitians are offering a free education seminar at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Jameson Hospital, Fourth Floor, 1211 Wilmington Ave., to explain the program and provide a tutorial on using the mobile smartphone application component.

The program includes weekly on-site weigh-ins and group sessions that meet twice monthly where health topics are presented by the registered dietitians.
