Mercy Health Youngstown is offering diabetes education on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland; and 6 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown.
Healthcare professionals who teach the three-day course, certified by the American Diabetes Association, focus on the medical aspects of the disease such as medications, glucose monitoring, exercise and complications during the first session. The second and third sessions focus on learning to plan meals, count carbohydrates, interpret food labels and make positive food choices.
