BEREA (AP) — The Ohio Turnpike is continuing a decades-old tradition of offering free coffee to New Year’s travelers at its service plazas.
The offer is good for one free cup of coffee from 10:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 7:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day at convenience stores and restaurants inside the service plazas.
By offering up the complimentary joe, service plazas along the 241-mile toll road across northern Ohio are continuing a tradition started in 1967.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says its troopers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers on the Turnpike and on all state roadways Thursday night and into Friday. Motorists are urged to report possibly impaired and dangerous drivers on the Turnpike directly to the patrol by dialing (asterisk)990.
