Officials to meet, determine discipline

NILES

Niles Mayor Ralph Infante, Service Director Neil Buccino, incoming Mayor Thomas Scarnecchia and incoming Service Director James DePasquale will meet before the end of the year to determine whether any disciplinary action will be taken against Michael Marrara, the city sewer maintenance worker who pleaded guilty to stealing $97,000 from Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Infante and Buccino presented evidence at Marrara’s pre-disciplinary hearing Dec. 16 regarding Marrara’s plea in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, Infante said.

The hearing officer, Carmen Vivolo, Niles parks director, will determine whether there is just cause for discipline before any determination will be made as to punishment, Infante said.
