POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Dec. 15

Theft: A man reported $650 missing from his Clovermeade Avenue residence.

BOARDMAN

Dec. 17

Assault: Authorities booked 30-year-old Darius R. Holcomb of East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, on a simple-assault charge after his former girlfriend, of Paxton Road, alleged Holcomb punched her face, grabbed the accuser’s neck and threw her around during an argument regarding her car.

Bad check: Police were dispatched to Boardman Area Court on Market Street to arrest 40-year-old Robert S. Marino of Kirk Road, Austintown, who faced a misdemeanor charge of passing a bad check. Marino was accused of writing such a $240 check Dec. 1 to RT Tire Co. Inc., 6999 Market St., before it was returned on a closed account.

Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 5600 block of Erie Street through a side door. Two TVs were taken.

Drugs: A vehicle check near Indianola Road led to the arrest of 23-year-old Qy’Shon T. Jackson of Shehy Street, Youngstown, on charges of trafficking in marijuana and possession of dangerous drugs when, authorities alleged, she had a bag containing 10 individually wrapped bags of suspected marijuana and seven over-the-counter pills, all of which weighed 20.1 grams.

Stolen property: A vehicle check near South Avenue resulted in the arrest of Derrick L. Wallace of Market Street, Youngstown, on two felony receiving-stolen-property charges after police alleged Wallace, 41, had on the vehicle a sticker and license plate he had taken from the business for which he works.

Theft: Springfield Township police handed to Boardman authorities 44-year-old Dennis B. Sinkovich, who faced three counts of theft. Sinkovich, of East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of making three fraudulent returns Dec. 8 at Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive.

Theft: Rodney Mock, 51, of Sanderson Avenue, Campbell, was charged with stealing three packages of tube socks from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Tyler D. Printup, 21, of Clifton Drive, Boardman, was booked after a bottle of vodka was stolen from a Shell True North gas station, 5135 Market St.

Stolen property: Police answered a shoplifting call at Southern Park Mall, then charged Venus E. Crawford, 44, of Parma with receiving stolen property and 60-year-old Karen J. Steinbrenner of Cleveland with receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools. Found in their vehicle were items that had been taken from two stores in the mall, a report showed.

Theft/drugs: Michael J. Woolley, 21, of Fourth Street, Struthers, was charged with theft, drug abuse (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia after clothing had been stolen from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. Also, Woolley had a small quantity of suspected marijuana in an envelope and a suspected marijuana pipe, police alleged.

Dec. 18

Arrest: Authorities arrested Albert L. Coffer, 26, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital on a charge of obstructing official business. Coffer, of Logan Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of fleeing from his vehicle Nov. 1 as police attempted to pull him over near Southern Boulevard.

Theft: A woman reported someone stole $25 she had accidentally dropped while at a Doral Drive store.

Fraud: A Youngstown man discovered someone without consent had used his Ohio Electronic Benefits Transfer card to make a $101 purchase at a South Avenue big-box store.

Arrest: While following up on an investigation related to a vehicular accident, officers charged 23-year-old Chante M. Oliver of Oregon Avenue, Youngstown, with one misdemeanor count of falsification. Oliver provided false information and admitted having lied so as to avoid being arrested, a report said.

Domestic violence: Carlos M. Montalvo Jr., 24, of Firnley Avenue, Boardman, was charged with the crime after a Melrose Avenue woman alleged Montalvo had grabbed and shoved her in an effort to enter her residence. He also brandished a handgun, she further alleged.

Drugs: Acting on a search warrant, authorities charged Dustin T. Dellick, 30, of Crestline Place, Boardman, with possession of drug-abuse instruments after saying he admitted having a syringe in the home.

Fraud: A doctor with a Tiffany Boulevard medical practice discovered an unauthorized $6,057 withdrawal had been made to his checking account.

Theft: A woman in the 6900 block of Lockwood Boulevard told police someone opened a package that had been delivered to her home and took a $60 sweater.

Misuse of a credit card: A woman reported her stolen credit card was used to make a fraudulent purchase at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Dec. 19

Arrest: Police took into custody 41-year-old Erik W. Weimer of Brookfield Avenue, Boardman, upon learning he was wanted on a Weathersfield Township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Aggravated menacing: A Silver Fox Drive man told police his former girlfriend sent and made more than 520 harassing and threatening text messages and calls to him.

Arrest: While conducting a welfare check in the 7000 block of West Boulevard, authorities charged 43-year-old Julia West of West Boulevard, Boardman, with assault on a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, and obstructing official business. West became hostile toward police and shoved an officer; after her arrest, she refused to get out of the cruiser, a report showed.

Burglary: Took place at a home in the 800 block of Fairfield Drive, likely through the front door. It was undetermined if anything was missing, however.

Identity theft: A Shields Road woman learned that someone without authorization had opened a credit-card account under her name.

Theft: A Canfield woman reported her purse stolen while at a South Avenue nail salon.

Criminal damaging: An Applecrest Court woman noticed four BB holes in a bedroom window.

Arrest: George J. Nicula III, 33, of Prospect Street, Struthers, was taken into custody after having been pulled over near Mathews Road. He was wanted on a bench warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Robbery: Jenilee L. McNamara of Sharon Road, West Middlesex, Pa., faced a robbery charge after $59 worth of merchandise was stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road. The 33-year-old McNamara also pushed a loss-prevention official several times who had tried to detain her, knocking the official backward, a report stated.

Criminal damaging: Officers responded to suspicious activity in the 100 block of Prestwick Drive, where they charged two 16-year-old Youngstown boys with criminal damaging, resisting arrest and obstructing official business after a vehicle had been damaged in the area. One of the teens was found hiding under a car, police said.

Theft: A woman in a red baseball cap reportedly stole $150 worth of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Theft: A man told police a 56-square-foot garage door was removed from the bed of his truck while he was in the 3900 block of Hudson Drive.

Theft/weapons: After responding to a report that clothing had been stolen from Walmart, authorities charged 18-year-old Martasia B. Walker of Detroit Avenue, Youngstown, with carrying a concealed weapon and theft; 21-year-old Keyvon A. Belcher, same address, with carrying a concealed weapon and being a convicted felon with a firearm; 20-year-old Josiah L. Smith of Potomac Avenue, Youngstown, with obstructing official business; and a 17-year-old Youngstown girl with theft and carrying a concealed weapon. A loaded semiautomatic pistol and a folded knife were found; also, Smith lied about his identity, police alleged.

Dec. 20

Aggravated menacing: A Forest Park Drive man alleged an intoxicated woman had called threatening to kill him.

Arrest: James L. Mitchell, 40, of Sugarcane Drive, Boardman, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and child endangering after police had stopped his car on Glenwood Avenue. Mitchell, who also was cited on a marijuana-possession charge, had two small children in the vehicle, authorities said.

Theft: Matthew J. Samu, 36, of Samuel Avenue, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $40 worth of men’s clothing from Walmart.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 4000 block of Windsor Road was found with damage to its trunk.

Theft: A South Avenue man noticed $30 missing from his home.

Theft: Ronald J. Adams of Reta Lane, Boardman, was charged with theft. Adams, 18, was accused of stealing $148 worth of men’s clothing, including two polo shirts, from Macy’s.

Criminal mischief: A Sierra Madre Trail man reported someone over a period of several weeks has tossed eggs at his home and placed grease on his car as well as food items by his front door.

Theft: A South Schenley Avenue man saw that a $100 car stereo was missing from his vehicle.

Drugs: Youngstown police exchanged custody of 21-year-old Kasey J. Conricote of Adeer Drive, Canfield, with township authorities. Conricote faced one count each of drug abuse and possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after officers had responded to a possible drug overdose Nov. 6 in the 1700 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Dec. 21

Aggravated menacing: A manager with a Boardman-Poland Road eatery told police a man called threatening to kill him after the accuser was to terminate the man’s daughter.

Theft: A man fled from Big Lots, 7110 South Ave., after reportedly taking $159 worth of assorted merchandise.

Breaking and entering: Someone used a brick to smash a window before entering Shang Hai River, a restaurant at 945 Boardman-Canfield Road, and taking an undisclosed sum of money.

Breaking and entering: Several tools were stolen from an apartment in the 300 block of Shields Road that was entered via a rear door that had been pried open.

Theft: A small amount of change was taken from a car in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Identity fraud: A Moyer Avenue woman discovered someone likely had used her identity during a recent traffic stop near Mathews Road and South Avenue.

Theft: A woman reportedly was seen on a surveillance camera stealing $300 worth of makeup from Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.
