For second day in a row, Greater Youngstown sets another heat record

The average temperature for the first half of the month is higher than the hottest December in history

A record high temperature of 63 degrees was set at Youngstown-Warren

Regional Airport at 2:45 p.m. today. This breaks the old record of 60 degrees set in 1991.

This is the second day in a row a heat record for December was shattered in the Mahoning Valley.

The average monthly temperature for December in Greater Youngstown is 41.3 degrees as of Sunday morning. For the full month of December, the hottest December in history was 1982 with an average temperature of 40.3 degrees.

Above-average temperatures are expected in Greater Youngstown for the next several days.
