Pa. families receive donated blankets

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Over the past several years, the United Way has partnered with Columbia Gas, community groups, agencies and local schools to collect new blankets to distribute to families who are facing challenges during the winter months.

The community donated 340 blankets during this annual drive.

Shenango and Neshannock school districts participated in the drive. The students from Shenango also helped sort and prepare the blankets for distribution at the Columbia Gas Building.

Companies participating in the drive were Liberty Mutual, GNC Credit Union, Lawrence County Tourist Promotion Agency, Sitler and Lemmon Heating Co., The Confluence, Lawrence County Government Center, First Commonwealth Bank (Union Square), and New Castle Community Y.

The blankets were given to Children’s Advocacy, Holy Redeemer Church, Crisis Shelter, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salvation Army, People in Need, Catholic Charities, City Rescue Mission and Lawrence County Social Services.
