How to adopt: Call West Side Cats at 330-792-4228. Visit them at the shelter at 2217 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

Name: Bertha

Info: This 10-year-old Tortie was brought to West Side Cats by a man at the dog pound. Bertha lost her longtime owner and now needs a new home to go to. She gets along wonderfully with other cats, loves children and likes dogs.

Name: Gracie

Info: This dark Tortie, with stripes of orange and black, is a special needs cat because she is blind in her left eye. She came to the shelter on Oct. 3 and volunteers guess that she’s around 7 years old. She is friendly and sweet, and can sit on a lap for hours in exchange for some petting. An owner on the quieter side would work well for her; she’d make a wonderful senior companion. She gets along well with other cats. Her quiet, gentle nature indicates she’d do best without children or dogs.

Hours: 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday; Closed Sunday and Monday.

Info: Both cats have been neutered and are up-to-date on their shots. They tested negative for feline AIDS and leukemia. They have been flea-treated and dewormed and are ready to go home.
