Proposals needed for Warren mural

WARREN

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is announcing a $3,393 grant award from the Ohio Arts Council for the installation of a mural on a wall in the Garden District.

TNP will use the grant toward the stipend for the project, which will award a total of $7,500 to the winning artist. The Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative will join TNP in matching the funding.

Artists are invited to submit a scaled rendering for the 56-foot-by-24-foot mural by Oct. 1. Entries can be mailed or hand-delivered by appointment to 170 N. Park Ave., or submitted to matt@tnpwarren.org.

Artists are encouraged to explore notions of civic and community pride.

The public will have the opportunity to vote on submissions in a gallery at the Trumbull Art Gallery, as well as online. For more information, 330-599-9275.

Liberty considers fee for streetlight use

Liberty Township trustees will give a second reading to a home-rule resolution establishing a streetlight-use fee at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Historical society sets 140th birthday party

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host a free birthday-party celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St. MVHS will celebrate its 140 years of service to the community.

The event will include activities for children, behind the scenes access to the archives, a salute to local history and cake.

Downtown high-rise plans modernization

YOUNGSTOWN

Millennia Housing Development Ltd. will host an open informational community meeting to discuss the renovation, modernization and improvement of International Towers, 25 Market St.

The meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Friday in the International Towers meeting room.

Millennia specializes in HUD-subsidized and Low Income Housing Tax Credit housing.
