Township trustees will seek grant funding for planned projects to add a sidewalk and repave roads.

The board approved resolutions at a special meeting Wednesday to authorize applications to Eastgate Regional Council of Governments for grant funds.

One application seeks financial assistance from an Ohio Department of Transportation program for a project that would add 0.4-miles of sidewalk on Dobbins Road from the township administration building entrance to the Tuscany development.

If the township secures funding, it would be responsible for 20 percent of the construction cost, plus environmental and design costs.

Estimates indicate construction would cost $180,000, making the township responsible for a cost of about $40,000.

The township also seeks grant funding to repave Arrel Road, Camella Drive, Four Seasons Trail and Knollwood Avenue.

County studies indicate those are some of the most heavily traveled township roads, which makes them more likely than other township roads to be considered for grants, township officials said.

If those projects get funding, they likely would begin in 2016, Trustee Bob Lidle said.
