CAMPBELL

A city man already facing domestic-violence and kidnapping-to-restrain-liberty charges was arrested again on drug charges after a raid Tuesday afternoon at a Penhale Avenue home.

Chester Weathers III, 36, was arrested after the raid at 476 Penhale Ave. Police raided the home on a warrant filed as part of an ongoing drug trafficking and heroin investigation, Sgt. Joseph Pavlansky said.

Police found more than 10 grams of suspected heroin, a handgun, drug paraphernalia, including scales with heroin residue, and about $600 in cash, Pavlansky said.

Weathers will be arraigned Friday in Campbell Municipal Court on charges of trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

Officers also arrested Weathers on Saturday after a 26-year-old woman told police he had pushed her and tried to forcibly prevent her from leaving the Penhale Avenue home Aug. 21.

The woman also told police Weathers had attempted to take her cellphone so she could not call for help, according to a police report.

Weathers was arraigned in court Tuesday for charges of kidnapping to restrain liberty and domestic violence. He faces a pretrial on those charges Tuesday.
