BOARDMAN — Township police are investigating a case of theft from another jewelry store.

The incident follows an attempted burglary at a jewelry store Tuesday night in which the owner of Cirelli Jewelers on Market Street shot and injured someone who attempted to steal $100,000 worth of merchandise.

Police responded to Direct Jewelry Outlet, 1235 Boardman-Canfield Road, early today, where they discovered the front door was smashed and several jewelry cases were shattered.

Police recovered items - including merchandise and personal property such as a bandanna - that were strewn about in an adjacent parking lot, along the roadway and into Mill Creek Park in the area of the golf course.

The business owner reported the value of missing items was about $1,000, but that the cost to repair the broken cases would be several thousand dollars.
