HONORS

Academy graduate

Atty. Donald P. Scott of Youngstown graduated from the 2015 Leadership Academy, sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association, last month. An invitation to attend the Leadership Academy is made by the president of the association upon nomination.

The academy is a select group of attorneys who previously have demonstrated interaction with the legal and civic communities, state commitments to the goals of the academy and represent a diverse cross-section of practice areas, geography, ethnicity, race and ages.

During the event, Scott participated in discussions on ethics and professionalism; state and local government; access to justice; community service; senior lawyers and the adequacy of preparedness of new lawyers.

Scott is a 1980 South High School graduate. He attended Youngstown State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in law-enforcement administration and an associate degree in police science technology and a juris doctorate from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2002.

Scott is an honorably discharged and retired Army Reserve lieutenant colonel.

DOCTORS

Neurology residency

Dr. Robert J. Stanton II has begun his residency in neurology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Dr. Stanton graduated as valedictorian from Poland Seminary High School in 2007. He participated in the B.S./M.D. program of Northeast Ohio Medical University through Youngstown State University, graduating magna cum laude from YSU in 2010. He received his doctor of medicine degree from NEOMED in 2015.

During his tenure at NEOMED, Dr. Stanton was the recipient of the NEOMED Schizophrenia Research Scholarship, allowing him to complete a year of intensive research between his third and fourth years in medical training that focused on the pharmacological aspects of neurological illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia.

Dr. Stanton is the son of Timothy and Evelyn Stanton and the grandson of William and Carmella Smallhoover of Poland, and the late Robert and Grace Ann Stanton of Struthers.
