Search will start for interim city schools superintendent

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown City Schools Academic Distress Commission voted to pay a search firm $1,500 to search for an interim city schools superintendent.

That firm will work with a search committee comprised of two academic commission members, two city school board members and two community members selected by the school board.

The search committee will recommend by June 9 three finalists for the interim position to the school board. A decision about a permanent superintendent will come later — that process hasn’t been determined.

The interim superintendent is expected to serve for about six months.

Superintendent Connie Hathorn has resigned effective June 30 but he will begin using accrued time May 28.
