Woman, child beaten with brass knuckles over babysitting debt

YOUNGSTOWN — An East Lucius Avenue woman told police the mother of a woman she owed money to for babysitting beat her and her 2-year-old child with brass knuckles.

Police were called to a home in the 200 block of East Lucius Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, where the 29-year-old victim told police that she owed someone $60 for babysitting but asked the babysitter if she could pay her at a later date because of a recent hospital visit.

Reports said the babysitter's mom then called and demanded the money and threatened to come over and get the money, reports said.

Reports said the mother came over, forced her way inside and found the victim in the basement holding the child.

The mother began hitting the victim and managed to hit the child as well with a pair of brass knuckles, reports said.

Reports said the victim had a "very swollen" eye and cuts on her eye and face.

The child had a red mark on her cheek, reports said.

Reports said the victim told police she thinks the suspect is from Campbell.
