BASEBALL

Poland 10, Howland 5

HOWLAND

Dom Lipari had three hits and three RBIs as Poland doubled up Howland. Ricky Svetlak went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Dan Klase scattered three hits over five innings for the Bulldogs (12-1). Pad O’Shaughnessy got the win in relief.

Cardinal Mooney 7, Austintown Fitch 4

STRUTHERS

Andrew Armstrong scored twice and drove in a pair of runs to help lift Cardinal Mooney over Austintown Fitch. Jon Saadey had three RBIs and Christian Lowery pitched a complete-game five-hitter for the Cardinals.

Ursuline 6, Boardman 5

STRUTHERS

Vito Petrillo hit a two-run single to tie the game in the sixth and Drew Potesta had the game-winning RBI for Ursuline, which trailed 5-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning at Cene Park. Petrillo (2-1) got the win. Lou Cardona, Gino Beato and Brian Fryda each doubled for the Spartans.

Springfield 8, Canfield 2

CANFIELD

Ryan Kohler singled and tripled, Hunter Snyder singled and doubled and Brandon Chamberlain and Dalton Donachie each had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (13-4). Chamberlain went five innings to get the win. Joey Machuga singled and doubled for Canfield (9-6) and Ryan Cheslik also had two hits.

Canfield 4, Streetsboro 3

CANFIELD

A three-run fifth inning was enough to lift Canfield over Streetsboro. Cheslik drove in a pair of runs to lead the offense for the Cardinals. Anthony Vross threw 32/3 inning in relief to earn the win and Joey Machuga picked up the save.

Streetsboro 6, Springfield 0

CANFIELD

Springfield was held to just two hits, suffering its second loss in as many days. Hunter Snyder and Cody Allen both singled, while the rest of the Tigers walked eight times. Brandon Walters took the loss for Springfield.

South Range 7, Minerva 3

MINERVA

Ethan Dominguez had three hits and two RBIs to lead South Range past Minerva. Ryan Miller also drove in a pair of runs for the Raiders (9-5, 1-1). Brandon Youngs struck out one over five innings to pick up his first win of the season on the mound.

West Branch 7, Western Reserve 1

BELOIT

Four pitchers for the Warriors held the Blue Devils (11-3) to four hits. Jerian Thomas had three hits and RBI for the Warriors (11-5). Jeep DiCioccio singled and scored for the Blue Devils (11-3).

Southeast 12-5, Girard 5-3

GIRARD

Southeast swept a doubleheader at Girard with both victories coming in nine innings. Zach Burrelli had two hits, scored twice and drive in a run in the first game for the Indians (5-9). Kyle Harris took the loss in the opener, but had two RBIs in the nightcap. Corey Lee and Eric Sapp earned wins on the mound for Southeast (5-12).

Niles 12, Lakeside 0

NILES

Geno Barricella had three hits, including a triple, a run and two RBIs and Garrett Pitts had three hits, including a double, two runs and one RBI for Niles. Cameron Carson gave up one hit over four innings to get the win, while Damien Coleman pitched a perfect fifth to finish it off. Jaret Johnson added two hits, two runs and a RBI and Murphy Miller had two hits, a run and one RBI.

Heartland Christian 8-11, Lisbon 3-4

LISBON

Phil Bell singled, doubled and scored three runs for Heartland in the first game, while Andy Sodergren had two hits, a run and three RBIs and Drew Montgomery had two hits and two RBIs. Nick Bowen had two hits and two runs for Lisbon. In the second game, Caleb Sommers had three hits, including a double, a run and fours RBIs and Nathan Sommers singled, doubled and scored three runs for Heartland. Sodergren also had two hits, two runs and two RBIs. For Lisbon, Bailey McCullough had two doubles, a single and a run and Dave Toot had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.

SOFTBALL

Cardinal Mooney 11-16, Bedford 6-3

BOARDMAN

Sydney Shugart improved to 5-0 in game one. Bridget Sweeney had a home run and Jami DiFabio had three hits and three RBIs for the Cardinals (12-1). Ashley Minute had two hits for the Bearcats (6-3). In game two, the Cardinals used a nine-run second inning to beat the Bearcats. Sweeney earned the win and DiFabio had three hits and four RBIs for the Cardinals (13-1). The Bearcats fall to (6-4).

Howland 5, LaBrae 3

HOWLAND

Leah Pollifrone and Monica Kotyuk each singled, doubled and scored a run for the Tigers, who scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. Hannah Kowach added a homer, two RBIs and two runs. Hannah Burke went the distance for the win. Kasey Rininger, Skylar Gilanyi and Emily Dugan doubled for LaBrae.

Jefferson 7, Howland 3

HOWLAND

MacKenzie Wilber homered and drove in three runs for Jefferson and Alyssa Irons tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks. Kowach doubled for the Tigers.

Keystone 6, Poland 2

LAGRANGE

Sammie Stefan had two hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats. Amanda Wire had three hits and two runs scored for the Bulldogs.

Poland 4, Bishop Ready 1

Kristyn Svelak went seven innnings and struck out nine, Ally Deemer had two RBIs and Brielle Nocera added two hits for the Bulldogs (8-4).
