Kinsman man who forged documents to get Purple Heart license plates charged again

MADISON

An arrest warrant has been issued in the Lake County village of Madison for Keith D. Chandler, the Kinsman Township man convicted in Trumbull County for falsifying documents to get Purple Heart license plates.

Chandler, 35, of Bushnell Campbell Road, was sentenced March 18 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to 90 days in the county jail with work-release priveleges after pleading guilty to seven counts of tampering with records and one count of forgery.

He since has appealed that sentence, and his jail term has been stayed while the appeal is pending.

His probation required him to perform community service, pay restitution of $241 to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and spend five years on probation.

If he violates the terms of his probation, he could get up to six years in prison, Judge Ronald Rice told him at his sentencing.

The warrant in Madison accuses him of one felony count of insurance fraud and one felony count of forgery, both dating back to March 23, less than one week after he was sentenced in Trumbull County.

The new charges pertain to work he was doing for a Madison church, officials said.

It is not known whether the new charges will trigger a probation-violation hearing in Trumbull County.
