Dead newborn baby found on Ohio college campus

NEW CONCORD, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a dead newborn baby has been found on the campus of a college in eastern Ohio.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office says the body of the abandoned infant was found Wednesday night at a university-owned student residence at Muskingum College. Emergency personnel responded to the residence just after 9 p.m. and were on the scene throughout much of the night.

An autopsy is planned.

The college referred inquiries to the sheriff’s office, which released no further details.

Muskingum College, in the village of New Concord about 70 miles east of Columbus, has about 3,000 students.
