Truck mishap unloads cattle on I-80 east, avoid area

AUSTINTOWN

The Ohio State Patrol is responding to an accident involving livestock on Interstate 80 eastbound just past the ramp to get onto state Route 11. The patrol asks motorists to avoid the area for now.

A semi-truck had hit a guardrail and flipped over at about 8:46 p.m. Several cows that the truck was carrying were released after the accident. A spokesman for the patrol said the cows are contained but troopers are conducting a thorough search of the area to make sure they have all cattle accounted for.

The driver received non-life threatening injuries and was transferred to a local hospital.

Traffic is being diverted on Route 11 southbound.
