Stashan M. Williams, 29, of Oak Street Southwest in Warren, was released on $5,000 bond after being arraigned Wednesday morning on a felony charge of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle involving a Tuesday night incident in the Eastwood Mall parking lot.

No plea was required during Williams’ hearing in Niles Municipal Court.

Niles police said mall security escorted several people out of the mall for causing a disturbance just prior to the 6:48 p.m. gunfire.

Shortly after the individuals got to their vehicles, they started arguing again, and two shots were fired from a gold Cadillac Escalade, striking a car, police said. Police found another bullet near the front of the mall.

No one was injured, and the Cadillac left the scene.

By using the Cadillac’s license plate, Youngstown police found Williams and the vehicle on Rosewae Avenue at the address where the Cadillac was registered, and two bullet casings were found inside the car.

Youngstown police also filed misdemeanor charges against Williams in Youngstown Municipal Court of driving under suspension and drug possession.
