BOARDMAN

Freshman Kayla Rutherford pitched her second consecutive no-hitter as — this one a perfect game in five innings — as the Cardinals won their third straight gane. Rutherford struck out eight. Jami DiFabio had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Rutherford and Sydney Kocher each had a triple and Julie Cook and Bridget Sweeney each had a double Lauren Frommelt, Britany Hendricks, Kocher, Rutherford and Sweeney each had two hits.

McDonald 4, Mineral Ridge 0

MCDONALD

Cheyenne Titus went seven innings giving up four hits and striking out seven. Olivia Sampson had three hits and Kendrick Kelly had two hits and a RBI for the Blue Devils(4-2). The Rams fall to 2-4.

West Branch 10, Canton South 3

CANTON

Kylie Byers went five innings striking out six. She added a home run with three RBIs for the Warriors (5-1). Jeni Stewart had three hits and two RBIs for the Warriors. Beth Myers had two hits and a RBI for the Wildcats.

Mathews 6, Pymatuning Valley 0

VIENNA

Chyenne Eggens (four innings) and Nicole Watts (three innings) combined for a perfect game and 12 strikeouts. Jenna Scifert had two hits and two runs scored, Meridth Grimes had two hits and two RBIs and Marisa O’Dell hit a home run for the Mustangs(5-1). The Lakers fell to 4-1.

Western Reserve 12, Sebring 0, five innings

SEBRING

Aleah Hughes pitched six innings, striking out 13. Abby Hemphill had three hits and three RBIs for the Blue Devils (4-3).

South Range 5, Hubbard 4, nine innings

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Taylor Helton had the game-winning single for the Raiders. Caragyn Yanek picked up the win throwing three and two-thirds innings for the Raiders(7-1). Jordan Youngs had two doubles and a RBI. Morgan Kist had three hits for the Eagles.

Columbiana 9, Struthers 4

STRUTHERS

Madison Macklin went seven innings and stuck out six, Haley Tohm had a grand slam and five RBIs for the Clippers (7-0). Madison Rossler had a triple and a double for the Clippers. Dana Wilkos hit a three-run home run for Struthers.

Girard 8, Brookfield 7

GIRARD

Mackenzie Olesky hit a walkoff double to score Gabby Cario, as Girard scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Brookfield. Rosie Maderitz scattered 10 hits, while striking out six, in earning the win on the mound for the Indians (4-2, 3-2). Olesky and Maderitz each had three hits in the win. Alicia Quinlan went 3-for-4 for the Warriors (4-4, 2-4).

Barberton 8, Canfield 3

CANFIELD

Macy Kaisk had a pair of doubles, scored twice and drove in two more runs, as Barberton knocked off Canfield. Riley Ries added a double and two runs scored for the Magics (5-2). Ally Sammarco had two hits and scored twice and Rachel Tinky drove in a pair for the Cardinals (6-1, 2-0).

BASEBALL

Mathews 6, Pymatuning Valley 0

VIENNA

Bryan Leipply pitched his first varsity no-hitter, striking out nine and walking two, as the Mustangs (2-3, 2-0 Northeastern Athletic Conference) beat the Lakers (4-3). Rob Helmick and Cobie Pratt each had two hits for Mathews. Pratt had a double. The Mustangs broke the game open with a five-run second inning.

Brookfield 6, Girard 3

GIRARD

Josh Byers doubled and drove in two runs and Brandon Fraley, Brian Hiner and Matt Smoot each had two hits as the Warriors beat the Indians (4-4, 3-3 All-American Conference). Josh Summerfield took a shutout into the seventh and Fraley got the final three outs — including the game-ender with the tying run at the plate — for a save. Austin DeGregory had three hits, Dylan White had two and Tyler O’Dell drove in two runs for Girard.

Canfield 6, South Range 0

CANFIELD

Alex Thompson pitched a four-hitter and Joe Delucia had two hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals (8-2). Canfield’s Kyle Kovach had two hits and an RBI and Ryan Cheslik had two hits.

Ursuline 5, Struthers 4

STRUTHERS

The Irish took a 5-0 lead after two innings and held on to beat the Wilscats at Cene Park. Vinnie Lucente started and got the win, striking out eight. Brice Bokesch drove in two runs for Ursuline (3-2). Pat Carano had two RBIs for Struthers (2-5).

Cardinal Mooney 7, West Branch 0

BELOIT

Thanks to a four-run first inning, Cardinal Mooney cruised past West Branch. Jack Lynch and Mike Williams each had two hits for the Cardinals. Lynch added three RBIs and Williams had two. Christian Lowery gave up five hits over seven innings in earning the win.

Niles 9, Campbell 4

NILES

The Red Dragons spotted the Red Devils a 4-0 lead after three innings, then took control with an eight-run fifth inning. Marco DeFalco drove in two runs and Geno Barricella and Garrett Pitta each had two hits for Niles. Morris drove in two runs for Campbell. Chance Hanshaw pitched five scoreless innings in relief, striking out seven, for the win.

Poland 11, Hubbard 1

HUBBARD

Adam Knight struck out 10 over six innings in Poland’s win over Hubbard. Eric White was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and Anthony Calcagni was 2-for-2 for the Bulldogs (8-0, 3-0). DJ Fronzaglio took the loss for the Eagles (2-3). Chris Colella had a hit and scored the only run.

St. Ignatius 2, Boadman 0

BEREA

At Baldwin Wallace University, M.J. Nara, Conner Adams and Murphy O’Brien combined to strike out 12 Spartans to lead the Wildcats (9-3). The Spartans (6-5) were held to two hits.

Mineral Ridge 6, McDonald 4

MCDONALD

Sam Kooyman went 2-for-3 and Jared Gherardi threw 31/3 shutout innings in relief as Mineral Ridge edged McDonald. Daren Colon scored two runs for the Rams (4-4, 2-1). Ben Carkido took the loss on the mound, but also had two hits and scored twice at the plate for the Blue Devils.

SEBRING

Ian Hames pitched five innings and struk out six for the Blue Devils (6-2). Walker Marlowe had the RBI.

East Liverpool 10, Lisbon 0

LISBON

Logan Bouscher was 2-for-3 with two runs scored as East Liverpool finished off Lisbon in five innings. Logan Torma gave up just four hits, while striking out four and walking a pair for the Potters. The Blue Devils (3-4) committed five errors in the field.

Jackson-Milton 5, Lowellville 0

NORTH JACKSON

Jackson-Milton pitcher Eric Ostrowski strikes out eight and allows only one hit to shutout Lowellville. Tyler Totani, Nate Clark and Justin Rentz each had two hits for the Bluejays (7-1, 2-1). Alex Osman took the loss for the Rockets.
