WARREN
Gary Kachenko, 56, of Phillips Drive Southwest, was sentenced to 121/2 years in prison Tuesday on eight counts of rape and four counts of gross sexual imposition involving a 13-year-old autistic boy.
In February, when he pleaded guilty to the offenses, he told Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court he would accept lethal injection, meaning the death penalty, for his crimes.
Judge Logan advised him the death penalty was not one of the available punishments.
Kachenko could have gotten as much as 95 years in prison.
Also Tuesday, Judge Logan set bond at $1 million for Michael D. Gray, 66, of Atlantic Street Northeast when Gray was arraigned on one count of rape that carries a possible life prison sentence. Gray pleaded not guilty.
Warren police said a Warren woman alleged that Gray raped her 5-year-old daughter in early March.
