Man awaits extradition

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested a man Sunday who was wanted on a warrant from New York City police for six years.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Cedar Lane about 2:05 p.m. Sunday for a report of a fight and when they arrived they found Jose Emanuel Garcia, 28. He gave police his name and birth date but said he did not know his Social Security number.

A records check showed that he is wanted on a warrant for a parole violation from the Bronx, N.Y., issued Aug. 1, 2008, for drug sales, and officials in New York confirmed the warrant, reports said.

Garcia was taken to the Mahoning County jail to await an extradition hearing back to New York.
