Man, 60, found dead near Grove City, Pa.

GROVE CITY, PA.

Pennsylvania State Police and the Mercer County Coroner are investigating a death of a 60-year-old male Sunday near state Route 58 in Pine Township just west of Grove City, Pa.

21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, reported that firefighters and rescue crews were dispatched to 249 Irishtown Road just after 3 p.m.

The incident was first described as a cardiac arrest, but when emergency personnel arrived on the scene they reported that the man was deceased and requested state police be dispatched to the scene.

Further information was not available late Sunday.

Young man shot, killed in Union Twp.

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating the shooting death of a young black male found in a yard off an alley Sunday in Union Township in Lawrence County, Pa.

The Lawrence County Coroner pronounced the victim dead of an apparent gunshot wound. Further details were not available Sunday.

Storm chaser plans presentation at YSU

Storm chaser P. Grady Dixon, associate professor and chair of the Department of Geosciences at Fort Hayes State University in Hays, Kansas, will give a presentation titled, “Hail and Deer … And Several Other Answers to Your Questions About Storm Chasing” at noon Friday in the Gallery in Kilcawley Student Center at Youngstown State University.

The free lecture is sponsored by the Department of Geography at YSU.

Dixon, who earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Mississippi State University, a master’s degree in geography from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in geography from Arizona State University, has participated in annual storm-chase trips of two to four weeks duration since 1998 and has been leading storm-chase field courses since 2010.
