Fall is in the air, and what better place to jump into the season than at a local business that knows all about autumn festivities.

Whitehouse Fruit Farm, 9249 Youngstown-Salem Road in the township, is a Mahoning Valley staple, and in the fall, thousands flock to the farm for a taste of the season.

Debbie Pifer, farm co-owner, says that the weekends during autumn bring in between 3,000 and 5,000 people, and that families come from all over to get a taste of the famous cider, tasty doughnuts and to pick up apples.

Just how popular is that cider? Each year, the farm sells more than 50,000 gallons of the freshly made drink, she said.

Kathleen McCale of Warren stops in often. She explains that there is so much to love about the farm — from its peppers to its Honeycrisp apples.

Haven’t been to Whitehouse Fruit Farm? Pick a weekend or two until Oct. 26 . It is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Come and celebrate fall at the farm by going on a hayride, playing in corn mazes or painting pumpkins. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
