Walk for Animals

VIENNA

Animal Welfare League’s 19th annual Walk for the Animals will take place next Sunday at 812 Youngstown Kingsville Road SE. Registration begins at noon. Other activities include a blessing of the animals at 1 and the opening of the Bark Park and walking path from 1 to 4. A free T-shirt will be given to each walker with a minimum $100 donation. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 fundraisers. Checks should be made to the league.

Prizes will be awarded in amazing pet trick, best pet costume, owner/dog look alike, smallest/largest dog and Frisbee contests. Participants are limited to two dogs each, on a leash no longer than 6 feet; no retractable leashes are allowed. For information, call 330-539-5300.

7th shelter run

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County will host its seventh annual 5K Walk and 10K Run to raise money to benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at Pearson Park in Neshannock Township. Registration deadline to ensure a free T-shirt is Tuesday. Registration at the event will begin at 7 a.m.; cost is $20. Registration forms can be obtained at the shelter office, 1218 W. State St., at www.crisisshelter.org, or by calling 724-652-9206 ext. 100. The shelter empowers and advocates for those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and other violent crimes.

Route 30 roadwork

LISBON

U.S. Route 30 will be restricted Thursday to place new beams as part of a $1.3 million project to replace the state Route 267 bridge over the road in Madison Township, Columbiana County. DOT Construction Corp. of Canfield, Ohio Department of Transportation contractor, will use Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers to slow traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the work. The bridge has been reduced to one 12-foot lane with temporary traffic signals since mid-June. The project is set for completion in November.

Wreath class

MERCER, PA.

Munnell Run Farm, 24 Avalon Court, will host two classes in conjunction with guest artisan Cyndi Burk for participants to create a Corn Tassel Wreath. Guests are asked to register by Monday for a 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday class, and by Thursday for a 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 9 class. Classes will be at the farm’s red pig barn. Cost for materials is $20.
