On forgiveness

At one time or another, we all have been hurt by words or actions of another person. At one time or another, we all have hurt others by our words and actions. If you are still struggling with past wrongs and the resulting pain, you are invited to a two-part worship experiences at First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road.

A worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday will focus on forgiveness — God’s forgiveness of us, our need to forgive ourselves, and the importance of forgiving others.

At 5:30 p.m. that day, there will be outdoor worship with a bonfire in which participants will symbolically destroy the power of past wrongs in their lives.

Fellowship and a hot dog roast will follow. All events will occur, rain or shine. For information, call the pastor at 330-505-1192.

Healing service

Poland

Church of the Rock, 7025 Luteran Lane, will conduct a cancer healing service at 6 p.m. Oct. 5. There will be praise and worship, testimony and prayer.

Guest speaker

Olivier Melnick, Northwest Regional Director of Chosen People Ministries, will speak at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 and at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 5 on “The New Anti-Semitism: A Pandemic Hatred Against God’s Chosen People” at Beloit Evangelical Friends Church, 18042 Fifth St.

A free fellowship dinner will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 4 followed by a presentation “Night To Celebrate The Messiah.”

Chosen People Ministries was founded in 1894 by Leopold Cohn, a Hungarian rabbi.

Family rally

HUBBARD

The congregation at Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, will sponsor a Wild West Family Rally Oct. 4 and 5. Tommy Oaks, nationally known preacher-story teller, and his son, John Thomas Oaks, will present the story of Jacob and Esau, “Wiley Jake.”

At 3:15 p.m. Oct. 4, there will be family activity with children working on a drama to be presented at 6:30 after dinner is served. A campfire will conclude the day.

Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. will feature Tommy Oaks leading adults in a marriage enrichment discussion. The worship service at 10:45 will feature a music program by the Oakes. At 5:15, participants are invited to wear western-style clothes and enjoy a men’s chili cook-off. “Wiley Jake,” an original drama, will be presented at 6:30.

Novena planned

NORTH JACKSON

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will celebrate the feast of St. Theresa on Wednesday.

Divine Liturgy and novena prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by refreshments in Antioch Hall.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., will host men of the Ohio Valley Teen Challenge as they lead worship at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5.

Ohio Valley Teen Challenge is a residential Christian faith-based discipleship and recovery support program for men 18 and older.

The program inspires self-discipline, responsible decision-making, social and spiritual accountability.
