YOUNGSTOWN

Police say a Rutledge Avenue man was stabbed inside his home early Thursday.

Police were called to the home about 2:45 a.m. where they found the man, who is in his 50s, bleeding in a bathroom.

Reports said the man told police he had been arguing with his wife after he had texted someone earlier, and she had left the home for several hours.

When the wife returned, they continued arguing, reports said. Reports said the victim told police his wife grabbed a butcher knife and threatened to stab him.

The man told police he told his wife “do what you have to do” and turned around to sit down. He said she stabbed him several times and ran out of the house, reports said. She was not in the house when police arrived.

The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where police were told he had five stab wounds in his torso.

Reports said the victim told police he did not want to press charges, but police continue their investigation.
