Drugs found on passenger in car driven by man 19 suspensions

YOUNGSTOWN

Police found 50 pills on a man who was a passenger in a car they pulled over Wednesday evening for having no license plate light on the South Side; they also arrested the driver, who has several open suspensions on his driver’s license.

Officers on patrol noticed a car driven by 44-year-old Stephen Hogan of Youngstown without the light about 8:45 p.m. on Ferndale Avenue near Hillman Street and pulled it over, reports said.

Reports said officers discovered that Hogan has 19 open suspensions on his license, and he was taken out of the car to be arrested. Reports said officers asked the passenger, 47-year-old Harold Reid of Youngstown, to get out as well because they were going to tow the car.

Reports said that as Reid got out of the car, a crack pipe fell out and he kicked it, reports said. He then was put under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and was searched after he was handcuffed.

As he was searched, police found two more crack pipes and a bottle with 50 pills in it, reports said. Reports said Reid told officers the pants he was wearing were not his.
